The following evening, after having braved the Balloon Festival crowds in Albuquerque, we pulled into Santa Fe. We had planned on spending about a week in the Santa Fe-Taos area..but ended up staying almost 2. Since we've ended up going back (Gabriela twice) and buying a property there ..lots of what you'll see here will be New Mexico related.
From the crafts and arts to the Fall leaves in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains ..to the High Desert landscape and the Pueblo Culture..we really felt at home there in the area. There's caldera (active volcanic action), Tent Rocks, Rio Grande Gorge, Angelfire, Circle of Fire ..and Colorado right around the bend!
From New Mexico we head out for Durango Colorado to do the famous Durango-Silverton Drive.
A crisp morning was Durango..we headed out on the famous drive up to Silverton ..a mining town a few dozen miles north in the mountains. We caught the train on our digital (below) before heading up..up..up! Spectacular just about covers it ..but I have to admit that I overdose sometimes on spectacular and finding words to describe how I feel about the over-abundance of greatness become harder to do.
